Detective Ernesto Sánchez’s dog, Bill Clinton, has gone missing. Sánchez’s search leads him to investigate the deaths of two gay men attacked by dogs on the outskirts of Mexico City. Someone wants this solved, but would rather remain anonymous. Sánchez tracks down the clues, visiting a high-ranking politician and a prison housing Mexico’s most notorious criminals. His investigation ultimately leads him to the high desert city of Durango, where a mysterious Catholic Bishop reveals all. Physically and mentally exhausted, convinced that the killer will strike soon, Sánchez places himself inside the mind of a psychopath, and offers himself as the final sacrifice.
